Family Dentistry involves a wide range of care. We work with you to create a treatment plan that you’re comfortable with.

At Lakeview Dental Centre, we are passionate about providing care and educating families on how to keep their teeth and gums healthy. Below are just a few of our general dental services.

Children’s Dentistry

We believe that all children should enjoy coming to their dental appointments. Our team of professionals enjoy working with them and strive to make every appointment as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. We know that they don’t like to be unoccupied while waiting, therefore, we have provided a play area for kids with books and toys. They are also invited to watch cartoons or their favourite shows in our reception area or on our in-ceiling televisions in the treatment rooms.

CEREC – Crowns

CEREC technology makes it possible to produce and integrate ceramic restorations in a single appointment. Unlike other materials such as amalgam or gold, ceramic is more biocompatible and boasts tooth-like physical and aesthetic qualities. In addition, digital impressions are more comfortable for patients than traditional impressions. CEREC is a sophisticated CAD/CAM system that uses 3D images to create a full ceramic crown, veneer, or restoration. We know that your time is valuable and that is why we are happy to offer this service to you. Check out the full link for more details.

Dental Implants

If you are missing teeth or suffering with loose-fitting dentures or an uncomfortable bridge, talk to us about dental implants. Dr. Violet Newman uses high quality dental implants to replace missing teeth and mini-implants to stabilize dentures. Implants look and feel like natural teeth. They are permanently rooted in your mouth to give you the functionality you would expect of real teeth.

Laser Therapy

Lasers are an exciting technology widely used in medicine. Laser therapy is kind to tissues, making this treatment excellent for healing. At Lakeview Dental Centre, we use soft tissue diode laser, ideally suited for soft tissue procedures since it is highly absorbed in hemoglobin and melanin. This gives the diode laser the ability to precisely cut, coagulate, ablate, or vaporize the target tissue with less trauma, improved postoperative healing, and faster recovery time. Scaling and root planing outcomes are also enhanced with the addition of diode laser therapy. The patient is typically more comfortable, and gingival healing is faster and more stable.

Healthy teeth and gums start at home.

Although our professional dental team is here to help you and your family care for your teeth, a significant portion of maintaining excellent oral health is in the hands of the patient. Following a good dental hygiene routine at home prevents tooth decay, extractions, gum disease, and more. We educate our patients on proper brushing and flossing techniques so they can feel confident about their at-home care.

Tips for brushing

  • Opt for an electric toothbrush (like Sonicare) with soft bristles and a fluoridated toothpaste.
  • Clean the chewing surface, the side closest to the cheek, and the side closest to the tongue, making sure to cover every surface of the tooth.
  • Avoid brushing too hard as it can harm your gums.
  • Brush teeth twice a day and for at least 2 minutes. Be sure to use Soft Picks or floss once a day before brushing.
  • Don’t forget to scrape the residue left on the tongue after brushing.
  • Use a medicated mouthwash indicated by your dentist to further help decrease the amount of microbes in the mouth.
  • If you have concerns about bad breath discuss it with your dentist since bad breath is a sign of gum disease and requires professional treatment.
